The Non Linear Experiences seminar is intended to provide students with critical tools for understanding and practicing New Media art and design The seminar will focus on exploring creative possibilities inherent in computer technologies for non linear temporal spatial and embodied expression We will look at traditional representations of time space and place in Art and Architecture and will examine the social cultural and psychological impact of todays digital technologies on our understanding and experience of these concepts We will further examine how new technologies are impacting our sense of self and our understanding of personal identity and question the role that digital technologies may be playing in fashioning a new stage in human evolution Students will be required to respond to the discussions and readings with a series of creative projects
