This course will provide an overview of transport phenomena inbiological systems that are critical to the function of all livingorganisms We will discuss momentum mass and to some extent heattransport in biological systems in cells tissues organs and medicaldevices By the end of the course students in bioengineering should beable to discuss the fundamental principles of transport processesdevelop and understand the mathematical expression(s) of theseprinciples establish and critically analyze models of biologicaltransport and reaction processes and apply these concepts to real fluidmechanical problems
