This course reviews the broad field of materials chemistry startingform synthetic problems methods of characterization and applications ofmaterials The course will deal with chemical studies in modernmaterials emphasizing physical chemistry fundamentals the interfacebetween molecules and materials the understanding of the interplaybetween molecular level structure and functions and the chemicalengineering of various materials Some features of new emergingmaterials like fullerenes nanotubes and nanoporous solids will also bediscussed Brief and combined intermediate quizzes will be provided tothe students to ensure their better and deeper understanding of thesubject
