This course is an 101 introductory course for those who are interested in understanding and experiencing the essential parts of Korean culture It will deal with many facets of Koreaness such as K architecture K filmK drama K pop K food K tourism K traditional music K paintings K dance and Korean cultural history As you might know Korea is a dynamic and creative nation with about five thousands years of cultural history Howeverlittle was known about it internationally until half a century ago From the late 20th century the miraculous development of the Korean economy and society led by peoples educational passion industrialization and democratization and followed by the so called Korean Pop culture The Korean Wave has put Korean culture on the frontline on the global news and media This course will make you experience and understand the essence of Korean cultures Ten specialists from each part of Korean culture will be invited to deliver their excellent lecture
