This course aims to investigate the roles and functions of literature within the context of an environmental crisis The students will learn 1) the concept of ecocriticism 2) the various literary traditions of literature and environment pastoral dwelling wilderness (sublime) nature as sacred 3) eco feminism and ecology in post colonialism On top of that they willhave chances to explore briefly some of East Asian literary traditions (Korean China Japan) which will be compared to the Western perspectives
